Bradley Matheson

Bradley is an NCCP Performance coach (level 3) in the sprints and hurdles and started working with the York University Track and Field Club in the summer of 2013. Before joining the club, Bradley trained and competed for the York University Lions Varsity team for 5 seasons in the combined events and in 2013 graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.
Bradley currently coaches Senior Sprints program and the York Lions Varsity Sprints program.
Raymond Rudder

Raymond Rudder is the Head Coach for the York Lions Track & Field and Cross Country program. He joined the Lions coaching staff in 2015 to work with the multi-event athletes. He comes to York with a wealth of experience working with professional sports teams and Olympic, World and collegiate athletes, as well as implementing youth development programs to successful elite junior athletes.
Rudder has a bachelor’s degree in physical education and sport from the International School of Physical Education and Sport in Cuba in 2006, and a master’s degree in management science from the Indiana Institute of Technology in 2014. He is also an IAAF Academy Level 5-certified chief coach and completed an internship at the IAAF High Performance Regional Development Center in Havana in the horizontal jumps.
Arye rosenoer

Ayre is an Athletics Performance Coach with a multitude of experience, coaching numerous athletes at the International level. He also coaches Pole Vault for the York Lions and has produced numerous CIS/USPORT national medallists and champions during his time with the team.
Nathan Stern
Throws - Junior development
Nathan joined the club in 2017 to work with Junior Athletes. He also works with the York Lions as an assistant coach in the throws. Nathan’s has developed a high performance Junior Development group that continually produces National caliber athletes year after year, producing OFSAA, National, and New Balance Nationals Finalists and Medalists in the throws.
While a student at Mount Mercy University (Iowa), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work degree, Nathan was NAIA All-American and two time MCC Conference Champion in the Shot Put. Nathan is the school record holder in both the indoor and outdoor shot put at Mount Mercy University. Nathan also holds a Master of Social Work degree from U of Toronto.
Joshua Ching
Distance - Junior Development

Joshua joined the coaching staff in 2015 to help coach the MTA group. After becoming trained in distance club coaching, Joshua re-started and has been leading the Middle/Long distance program since 2018 after the club had been without a distance program for a few seasons. Since starting the program, Joshua has developed many athletes that competed at the OFSAA championships, as well as club provincial and national championships for cross country and track and field.
During his undergraduate, Joshua was a Varsity athlete for the York Lions for 5 seasons where he competed at the OUA and U-Sport championships on several occasions in the 600m, 4x400, and 4x800 relays.
Marlene Acuña
Distance - Junior Development
Marlene comes to the club from Ecuador. She joined the Coaching Staff in 2023. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in physical education and sport from the International School of Physical Education and Sport in Cuba, specializing in Track & Field.
As an athlete, Marlene is a multiple time Ecuadorian National Champion in the 1500m and 3000m Steeplechase. She competed at the International level in both Cross Country and the 3000m Steeplechase representing Ecuador.
Addison De La Cruz
Sprints - Junior Development

Addison has been coaching the junior development group since 2018 as an NCCP-trained club coach specializing in sprints and hurdles. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, a diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion, and a personal training certification from the NSCA. Addison’s coaching experience includes guiding several athletes to provincial medals. Currently Addison also competes at the National Level in the 100 & 200m events.

Corey Braithwaite

Corey joined the YUTC coaching staff in 2017 and primarily works with the jumpers/multis. Before coaching with the club, he competed for York as a sprinter. Corey has developed a number of junior athletes at the provincial and national level. He has coached a number of junior athletes to national titles and podium finishes. Corey did his Sociology degree at York. He is NCCP Performance Coach in Jumps.

Diana Boa

Diana joined the coaching staff for the MTA group in the fall of 2018 moving from being a mentor coach to leading the group. She is a former York Lions sprinter and has competed for the Women’s track team at the USPORT Championships in the 4x200m in both her years with the team.
Sonia Gaskin

Sonia is a seasoned Barbadian middle distance runner. She has achieved notable accomplishments throughout her career. She is honored to have secured the bronze medal at the 2018 CAC Championship in the 800m, emerged as a 4 time Barbados national champion and consistently reached finals at prestigious events such as NACAC Championships, the 2019 Pan Am Games and the NCAA Championships. Sonia’s affiliation with the YUTC Club spans 7 years during which she has consistently demonstrated exceptional performances and unwavering dedication. As a dedicated volunteer coach, Sonia passionate about working with young athletes and instilling in them the true meaning of sportsmanship.
Mary Egbo-Egbo
Jumps - Junior Development, Senior

Mary joined the Club in 2016 to work with the MTA athletes and has been coaching the Junior development jumps program since 2017. She also works with the York Lions as an assistant coach in the Jumps. Before working with the Club, she was an accomplished jumper. In 2003 and 2004, she was the Canadian Junior Champion in the Triple Jump and competed for the University of Northern Iowa Panthers during her undergraduate degree. She remains ranked, at Northern Iowa, No.1 all-time in the triple jump indoors and No. 4 all-time outdoors. She is a trained Club Coach in the NCCP system. Mary is currently on leave, completing her Medical Degree
Hillary Ojo

As a current student athlete on the track and field team at York University, Hillary joined the coaching staff in the summer of 2023, bringing her experience from competing at indoor and outdoor nationals. She has a passion for working with children and helping them develop their skills in athletics. Hillary is excited to have a fantastic season ahead, guiding the kids and watching them grow as athletes!
